So here’s the scenario, you’re aware that you’re under investigation, you think that you might be charged or you could be charged but you haven’t been charge yet. So why do you need a criminal defense lawyer. Fair question, but here’s the fair response, really three reasons.

Number one, with the right lawyer and the right investigation and the right effort you might first off avoid being charged. The second reason you want to hire a criminal defense lawyer now if you’re under investigation is that it can help you lessen perhaps the charges that you might be facing, in other words your lawyer can meet with the prosecution and perhaps reach some sort of agreement to have you charge with a lesser offence. The third and final reason why it’s critically important that you hire a lawyer before your charge is will give your lawyer a better opportunity to defend any charges that might be coming against you, in other words it’s important that your lawyer be out conducting an investigation doing with locating witnesses, preparing a defense before you are charged. Because my experience has taught me that it gets harder and harder and harder to find witnesses particularly witnesses to testify for the defense long after charges of file. So sooner is better, sooner is important.
