Divorce Process
If you’re feeling really emotional about your divorce but your ex says it’s just a business deal, in some ways you’re both right. Divorce is a very complicated untangling of a multitude of relationships. There’s the financial relationship for sure. There’s a legal relationship, there’s a family relationship, a co-parenting relationship, a social relationship. There’s so many ways in which you’re intangled and become more intangled as you go through your marriage. And so as part of the divorce process, we need to identify each of those relationships and seperate them out.
It’s very common to be talking about the money and to run into an emotional problem or parenting issue or communication problem because of this untangling relationship that we’re trying to do. All these different yarns and threads are tangled up together and knotted arount each other. We need, as divorce professionals, to help the people separate them out, sort them out, and then weave them back together in a relationship, in a bi-nuclear family that goes forward as seamlessly, civily, cordially as it possibly can.
