As we all know, car insurance is confusing. When buying it for the first time or renewing each year, it’s easy to just choose minimum coverage amounts required by law. A lot of our clients choose amounts once and then leave them alone. But years later, after an accident, they realize the value of good coverage. So how much insurance coverage do you need? Here’s how we break it down.

Coverage Recommendations

We recommend you purchase $1 million per person combined uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. To reach that $1 million, we recommend you purchase, at least, $50,000 per person and $100,000 per accident liability coverage. Then choose $25,000 in medical payment coverage. If you want protection for your car, then add collision coverage with a $500 deductible. Also, be sure to include comprehensive coverage with a $0 deductible.

These coverage levels are higher than the minimum limits required by law. After witnessing many clients struggle with insurance after the accident, we can tell you that a little extra protection is worth the cost. The good news is that the extra coverage’s normally do not cost much more.

If you have questions about what to do after a car accident, don’t hesitate to give us a call. Whether it’s a problem with the insurance or the other driver, we want to make sure you are protected and get the payments you deserve. Don’t give up your rights. Let us protect you.
