The Process After a Wrongful Death

It’s always a tragic situation when someone loses a loved one, whether it’s a spouse, husband, wife, or child. We want to be there for our clients going through such a traumatic situation. One of the things we have to get started right away is if there’s any estate matters to be able to, again, preserve evidence. One particular case that comes to mind involving wrongful death that we were able to accomplish, I had a client with a teenage boy who was hit in an intersection. Through our handling the case we were able to get the state to actually put in a blinking light at the intersection which shows that we’re able to not just have monetary compensation but to try to make a difference in people’s lives – our clients lives and the lives of our community so this doesn’t happen again. In trying to evaluate the value of a case, whether it’s a wrongful death or any type of case, there’s so many factors on a case by case basis we have to look at. It could be loss of income, loss of spousal services, loss of love and affection, medical expenses. Those are all types of things that have to go into it to be considered in trying to evaluate a case. There’s no cookie cutter, on size fits all. We have to look at every individualized facts situation for that client in order to make sure that we’re getting the best possible result for that client.
