Insurance Company Paying for Your Medical Bills
Often clients will come to me and say, “Well, I was in a wreck, and the other person’s insurance company said that they’ll pay for my medical bills.” The other person’s insurance company, even if it’s clearly their fault, they’re not going to pay your medical bills as you go to the doctor so you shouldn’t sign anything. If you sign an authorization for them to get your medical records, that’s giving them an open blank check to get any of your medical records from any doctor that you’ve ever seen. They’re not entitled to that. What we need to do is look at your case to make sure how we’re going to get your bills paid while you’re going to the doctor while your getting treatment. I’ve heard from many clients that will say, I thought they were going to pay my medical bills. But the fine print, what they’re really saying is they’ll pay the medical bills that they think are reasonable and they think are necessary and it’s probably not going to be all of your medical bills that you’ve incurred.
