Another type of California lemon law case that I see is that maybe the problems with the car were not serious enough to buy back the car, or get a brand new one. But, on the other hand, it is a serious case, so sometimes the manufacturer will agree to pay a certain amount of money, and you keep the car, and that happens, too. It’s not just all or nothing. Sometimes there’s a middle ground for a California lemon law case where the consumer keeps the vehicle, they’re paid some money, and they say, “Look, we’re going to pay your attorney’s fees. We think your case is legitimate. There’s not quite enough there for us to buy it back, but here’s some money, and you can keep the car for the rest of the lease term, or go on.” And, also, the warranty still applies, so the consumer still has the warranty protection. When I get a case, I do my best to resolve that case as quickly as possible. I want to talk to the consumer, explain to the consumer what their rights are under the California lemon law, and get that thing over with and done as quickly as possible, so they can move on with their life, because I know it’s really important.
