And the answer is absolutely yes. You can receive it either on a temporary basis or a permanent basis. That goes on to the issue of what happens, for example after you file for divorce till the time the divorce is finalize, and that could take six, 12 or 18 months because the circumstance it can drag out.
Temporary Order
You can get what’s called a temporary order at a temporary hearing for child custody, temporary alimony and temporary support. And then the same can be awarded on a final hearing. So a typical divorce if it’s fully contested will have a temporary hearing and then a later final hearing. The temporary hearing is very important because in many cases the same evidence will be heard at the final hearing in front of the same judge. So you want to do your best to win at the temporary hearing. In the end you need to prepare for a temporary hearing and a final hearing and litigation. At any of those points in time you can be awarded child custody, child support or alimony.
